Oxford Tuneless Choir
The Oxford Tuneless Choir has been running very successfully since November 2016 (with a covid break, of course), with singers from many different backgrounds and of all ages (currently 14 – 87) coming for various reasons to enjoy the release of endorphins as they sing popular songs however they like. We have even been known to sing a classical song or two! The atmosphere is almost party-like and the camaraderie palpable: friendships are made and easily grow. There is no audition, no commitment, no rehearsal, no public performance, no pressure, and no judgement – just confidence-boosting fun under the direction of a wacky expert, Angela Knapp.
The choir has developed into an idiosyncratic group who have a common goal of singing for about an hour and a half like no-one is listening, with an interval for drinks and socialising. Come and be part of this whenever you like – regularly or occasionally.
We meet nearly every Wednesday throughout the year, – but there is no session on July 19th – at North Oxford Association Community Centre, Diamond Place, Summertown, Oxford, OX2 7DP.
If you’d like to join or have questions, contact Angela by emailing oxford@tunelesschoir.com or calling 07711 067402.
Newcomers pay £10 for their first session, including registration with the choir and your own songbook. After that it is £8 a session. Periodically, there is the opportunity to book a specified five-week series offered for just £30 in advance – the equivalent of £6 per session. Payment is preferably online, but cash is accepted for those who do not have this facility.
