South Lakeland Tuneless Choir

South Lakeland Tuneless Choir, based in Milnthorpe, will launch into song on the morning of TUESDAY 9TH JANUARY 2018.

Like all Tuneless Choirs, the emphasis will be on “singing like no one is listening” with everyone able to use their voices however they wish with no worries and definitely no auditions! If you’ve been told you can’t sing in tune, or know you lack the ability, practice or confidence to do so, this is the choir for you.  We’ll sing popular songs so you’re likely to know how many of them go.

The choir will be run by Milnthorpe residents Ian and Tracie Penwarden-Allan. Well-known locally as musicians, teachers and conductors of Arnside Choral Society, K Shoes Male Voice Choir, OttoVoce Ladies’ Choir and The Milli Youth Choir, Tracie and Ian often meet people who won’t join a choir because they believe that they can’t sing. Ian and Tracie immediately sought to create a safe space whereby those who couldn’t sing can now sing loudly and proudly without fear of being judged!

The choir will meet at St Thomas’s Church, Milnthorpe, LA7 7QJ.   Usually it will run from 10.30am to 12 noon, with a break for tea/coffee and biscuits and the occasional cake.  For our launch on 9th Jan doors will open at 10am for some alcohol-free Bucks Fizz on arrival, with hot drinks and cake at the interval, all included in the £10 ticket price.  Please do book your place at this first session so you are catered for:

Ongoing, the choir will meet every Tuesday morning excluding school holidays, so:

  • 9th Jan to 6th Feb
  • 20th Feb to 27th Mar
  • 10th April to 22nd May
  • 5th June to 17th July

Newcomers will continue to pay £10 for their first session, including registration with the choir.  The regular price is £7 if you “pay as you go”, or you can pay in advance for a term for the equivalent of £5 per session.

If you have any questions you can contact us by emailing or calling Tracie on 07799 660145.
