Description
Our choirs can’t meet in person, probably at a time when many of use could most use a bloomin’ good sing. Through the wonders of technology, we are able to meet online using an app called Zoom.
A ticket for the session is £5, as our Choir Leaders have lost a source of income. That will be for one sign-in, so your whole household can gather round and join in. We’ll also always have free places available, for those who’ve also lost their income at this time and are going to struggle to cope financially. If you are feeling exceptionally grateful then you can pay for a free place for £10, though we won’t limit the free places to the number paid for. Any excess fivers will go to Mind, the mental health charity.
To take part you’ll need to place an order for the session checking out like you would when buying a t-shirt. You’ll be sent an email from tunelesshq@tunelesschoir.com which contains a link – make sure that arrives and doesn’t go into Spam or Junk. Then keep it safe as you’ll just need to click on it just before the session is due to start.
If you’ve not used Zoom before then when you click on the link it’ll ask you to download a little bit of software, so you can take part. Just follow the instructions. It’s best to do all this from a computer as you’ll see more on the screen, but you can join by tablet or phone. If you want to see instructions then there are ones for each type of device here.
Please be sure to enter your name when asked so we can see who is there. We’d love to see you on video, if that’s possible!
Each online session will last about an hour. We’ll do the usual warm-up routine, then we’ll sing along to some favourite Tuneless tracks with lyrics on screen. Mostly you’ll just be able to hear the backing track and Choir Leader Talibah Rivers-Graham singing. If we try to hear each other then all the different time delays mean we are out of sync, even more than normal. However at the end of each song, when the lyrics turn red you can unmute yourself and go for it – wonderful Tuneless chaos!
FAQs
Can I order access for more than one person? There’s no need to order places for the number of people who’ll be in the same room as you – it’s one charge per household. If you are helping out a non-tech-savvy friend who is at their own house, then by all means order 2 places and note their name when you check out. You can then forward the confirmation email to them so they have the link. But please don’t send this on to others. We can cross-reference who is on the session with who has ordered.
Do I have to be a member of London Vauxhall Tuneless Choir to join in? No! Everyone is welcome along, just as at all Tuneless Choir sessions. Not every Tuneless Choir will be able to meet online, some of our leaders have proper jobs as key workers. So all these online sessions are open to members of all Tuneless Choirs, and none.
Can I get a free place? If like us you’ve lost your income due to coronavirus, and might struggle financially, please feel free to select the free place option when you check out. If not, then we would appreciate the fiver to help us stay in business. As other Tuneless Choirs come online they will also offer free first sessions, so you can look out for them for a taste of Tuneless if needs be.
